Unmetered dial-up Internet access Notice to customers with unmetered dial-up Internet access. With effect from 31 March 2007, unmetered dial up will cease for Demon Standard Dial-up, Premier Connect Plus and Business ISDN products. The change is due to BT’s withdrawal of its BT SurfTime portfolio. Subscriptions to Demon dial-up products will continue, however, monthly subscriptions for the BT part of the unmetered solution will no longer be possible. Instead, usage based call charges will appear on your BT bill from 31 March 2007. Customers affected by this change should consider migrating to Demon Broadband to avoid these call charges! The impact of BT’s changes will only be felt if you use a BT SurfTime package to avoid call charges to the Demon 0844 041 xxxx. If you have not subscribed to the BT SurfTime package, nothing will change for you. Despite the changes, all Demon Dial-up customers will be able to use a Demon SurfTime number, as before, and get low call charges: 0.5p per minute at weekends or 0.6p per minute on weekday evenings. Please note, these charges are lower than the charges imposed for most competitor PAYG dial-up services. During peak time weekdays, Premier Connect Plus, Business ISDN and Super Showroom customers will be able to use the SurfTime number at 1p per minute. If you make a reasonably high number of Internet Access calls per month, broadband will now be a better value product for you. The nearest equivalent broadband products are described below and in our broadband product comparison table.
As broadband provisioning time is about 10 days, if you would like to place a broadband order, we advise affected customers to do so by mid-March 2007 to avoid any disruption to their service. |
