UK Domains

Every country needs a central registry to store the unique names used on the internet and Nominet UK is the national registry for all domains ending in .uk. Nominet is a not-for-profit company and as such its charges only cover its running costs.

Anyone can register a .uk domain directly with Nominet at a cost of £80 per domain for two years. As a member of Nominet, Virtual Server Hosting is able to pass on the discounted rates for registration to our customers.

Many UK ISPs still find it acceptable to charge customers in excess of £50 for each domain, but Demon Virtual Hosting offers discount .uk registration. Our £7.50 per domain charge includes the "Nominet fee" and unlike other ISPs there are no strings attached and no hidden charges. Virtual Hosting can arrange for registration for all types of domain available through Nominet.

Global Domains

You can now register your .COM .NET .ORG .BIZ and .INFO domains live and direct from within your online Control Centre.

Using the OpenSRS system, your gTLD registrations and renewals will be quick and easy. Billing for registrations and renewals will now be handled directly at THUS, giving you the option to pay for gTLDs by card (to maximise that discount when ordering) or later by invoice on your account.

.biz and .info domain registrations must be for a minimum of 2 years (maximum 10 years). All other gTLDs can be registered for just 1 year or for up to 10 years, to obtain maximum price discount.

After the first 2 years of registration, or whenever a transferred .uk domain is due for renewal, THUS can again pass on the Nominet members discount and will only charge £10* for a further 2 years of registration fees (slightly higher than the £7.50 registration charge due to the administration involved).

Once your domain is registered or has been transferred to the OpenSRS system, the Admin contact will have full administrative control using a simple web interface. As your Registration Service Provider, THUS will be able to make changes for you. Backups

Benefits

Standard Backups

Data stored on all Demon Virtual Servers, is backed up on a weekly basis so in the case of disaster recovery your websites and database can be restored. Data can be restored by request from these backups at any time for a one off charge of £25.

Daily Backups

In addition to the standard weekly backups you can request for your data to be backed up on a more frequent basis. Backups can be taken daily and be stored for three days, so in case you need to restore lost files, you can be sure that the latest backup is up to date. Restoration from these daily backups is included in the fixed monthly fee.

The Demon Virtual Server Hosting Firewall security service provides customers with a tool to manage access to your virtual server; to and from specific IP addresses or ports.
