Windows 95 Internet Connection Wizard

This guide will help you to set up your Demon connection using the Internet connection wizard.

Launch the connection wizard by clicking on Start > Programs > Internet Explorer > Internet Connection Wizard.

Select the second option as shown above, and then click Next.

Select the top option as shown above, and then click Next.

Select Connect using my phone line, and then click Next.

Select Create a new dial-up connection, and then click on Next.

In this example we have used 0845 2120666 as the Telephone Number.

Then click Next.

In the User Name field enter your Demon Hostname, ensure this is in lowercase.
Type your password into the Password field, this is case sensitive.

Click Next.

Select Yes for the Advanced settings and click on Next.

Select PPP (Point to Point Protocol) and then click Next.

Select I don't need to type anything when logging on and then click on Next.

Select My internet service provider automatically assigns me one and then click on Next.

Enable Always use the following. Enter 158.152.1.58 as the DNS Server and 158.152.1.43
as the Alternate DNS Server.
Then click on Next.

Call the connection name Demon Internet and click on Next.

Select Yes to setup an email account, and then click on Next.

Enter Your full name in the display name box, and then click on Next.

Enter Your email address in the email address box, and then click on Next.

Select POP3 from the My incoming mail server is a..... dropdown menu.

Then in the Incoming mail server box type pop3.demon.co.uk.

In the Outgoing mail (SMTP) Server enter post.demon.co.uk.

Then click Next.

Select Log on using
In the Pop account name enter your Demon hostname
In the Password box enter your password, then click on Next.

Call the Internet mail account name: Demon Mail and then click on Next.

To setup your News account select Yes and then click on Next.

In Display name enter your name and then click on Next.

Enter your email address in the Email address field and click on Next.

Enter news.demon.co.uk in the news (NNTP) server field and click on Next.

Enter Demon News as the new account name and click on Next.

Select No for a Directory service account and click on Next.

The configuration is now complete, click on Finish.
The computer should now prompt you to restart.
(If it doesn't, close the Control Panel then click the Start button, select Shut Down, then select Restart).
