Netscape 4.5 Setup

When you first start Netscape after the installation, it will require you to complete the profile section.

Click Next.

In the Full Name field enter: Your Full Name
In the email field enter: Your email address

See our Names & Password Conventions guide.

Click Next

For the Profile Name field anything can be entered here, although we suggest entering your username
This will avoid confusion later.
If you are happy with the chosen directory, click Next
. If you wish to change the directory, enter the path and directory name in the field provided.
For example: D:\netscapeuser\users\ then click Next.

To set up your outgoing mail server enter post.demon.co.uk

Click Next.

To set up your incoming mail server enter in the Mail server user name field Your Hostname
In the Incoming mail server field enter pop3.demon.co.uk

Click Next.

Finally enter news.demon.co.uk in the NNTP Server field.
In the Port: field enter 119
Leave Secure unticked.

Click Finish.

To change or add any settings, click on Edit
And choose Preferences

The screen shot above shows all the sections needed to add or change any information
within Netscape, click on the desired menu option on the left, the data section on
the right will show the relevant fields.

The screen shot above shows the mail settings menu option.
When you are happy with the information click OK
To use the mail and news facilities, click on Communicator top menu bar.
