Internet Explorer 4

Open Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.

Click on View.

Choose Internet Options from the resulting menu.

From here you can set up MS Internet Explorer to suit your preferences.

Under the General tab, in the Home Page section, you can select the "Start Page" that Internet Explorer will show when it is initially opened. You can choose:

Use Current will use the current address in the address window. or
Use Default will use the default homepage (Demon’s Page). You can set your own by typing the url into the Address field provided. For instance www.yahoo.com or
Use Blank will use a blank page.

Click on the Connection tab.

Under the Connection section, select Connect to the Internet using a modem (or Connect to the Internet using a local area network if you are on a LAN, or wish to establish the connection manually).
Click the Settings... button.

This is the Dial-Up Settings section.
Make sure Demon Internet Ltd. is selected in Use the following Dial-Up Networking connection:.
Under Log on to this connection using the following information:.
Ensure the User: field contains your hostname (in lowercase) and
the Password: field is your Demon Internet logon password (case sensitive).
Click OK.

In the Proxy Server, select Access the Internet using a proxy server option.
Click Advanced.

Inside the Servers section, under Address of proxy to use, type in www-cache.demon.co.uk next to HTTP:

The Port number is 8080.

Enter the same address into the FTP and Gopher fields too.

Click OK.

Click Apply
Click OK to save and exit the Internet Options and return back to the Internet Explorer screen.
You are now ready to start browsing the Internet.
