Premier Connect FAQ How do I upgrade my SDU account to the Demon Premier Connect package? How do I upgrade my SDU account to the Demon Premier Connect package? No extra payments or special registrations are required - you simply dial the new 0844 041 xxx phone number. This SurfTime number is not available during the working day. Demon Premier Connect users will therefore have to swap to the standard 0844 099 xxx number during this period. Calls are charged at 2p per minute (inc. VAT). A 5p minimum call charge will still apply. SurfTime is now available nationwide on all BT lines. What will happen if I use the Demon Premier Connect SurfTime (G5) number in the daytime? If you don't have a Demon Premier Connect Plus account, you will not be able to log on with the 0844 041 xxx number after 8am on weekdays. With this number your Internet access may be disconnected or the service may stop working without disconnecting your line. In both these cases, BT will charge you (at our Demon Premier Connect Plus rates) for your call. We will not be responsible for these costs. If our systems fail to bar you due to a problem at our end, we won't charge you the Demon Premier Connect Plus subscription fee. However, the BT call charge described above will still apply. How do I upgrade my SDU or Demon Premier Connect account to Demon Premier Connect Plus? This is possible by subscribing online or by calling the Demon sales team. What are the call options for the Demon Premier Connect packages? Rate columns are in pence per minute. Prices correct as at 1st July 2004
* It is possible to reduce these charges by using the domestic BT "calling circle" discounts (Friends and Family, Best Friend) and also some, but not all, of the BT business equivalents. All charged calls are in pence per minute and have a minimum of cost of 5p. Charges include VAT. All rates apply to BT lines only - other companies may have special rates. Please contact your telephone company for more details. I don't have a BT or THUS Direct Voice phone line. What can I do? The Demon Premier Connect call prices are available to Premier connect and Standard Dial-up customers with an appropriate BT line or a THUS Direct Voice phone line. If you don't have one of these phone lines you can’t get unmetered calls but you may still be able to benefit from daytime call prices as low as 2p per minute using Demon 0844 099 numbers. Please call your telephone provider to find out their charges for calls and decide if they benefit you..
What happens when I change the type of account? Everything about your account remains unchanged. If you're upgrading your subscription to Demon Premier Connect Plus you'll be able to use the new 0844 041 number during the daytime. There will also be a payment to cover the increased fee, charged at a pro rata portion of the additional £8.24 monthly subscription. If you are on a free trial and change to Demon Premier Connect Plus, you will start paying the whole subscription from that date, not just the additional amount.
How often can I change my account to a different type? You can change to Demon Premier Connect Plus at any time. You must remain on this package for at least 30 days if you wish to change back to Demon Premier Connect.
Are there any new Internet access restrictions with Demon Premier Connect Plus? No. There are no new restrictions on the use of the Demon Premier Connect Plus service. Unlike some other ISPs, Demon will not disconnect you after spending more than 2 hours of continuous time online (or any other period).
Can I use Demon Premier Connect's call charges with any other Products? Demon Premier Connect Plus is automatically included in the bundle that Business Dial-up and Super Showroom users receive. (These are the £60 per month packages sometimes called "BDU" and "NDU"). Demon Premier Connect is included as standard in all other bundled dial-up accounts (such as Showroom). You can upgrade to Demon Premier Connect Plus by paying the difference in fees (£8.24 inc. VAT per month).
Why do I make a separate payment to BT for free calls? BT SurfTime is a set of payment options from BT that provides cheaper access to the Internet via participating ISPs, such as Demon Internet. If you register for free calls through BT SurfTime, you will pay a monthly subscription fee to Demon for supplying the Internet service and another monthly subscription to BT for the facility of 100% discounted call costs. Your subscription to Demon covers a specific account, no matter which phone line you make your calls from. Your payment to BT covers calls from a specific line, no matter which Demon account is called. Depending on whether you subscribe to the Demon Premier Connect or Demon Premier Connect Plus package, the additional payment to BT will give you free calls during evenings and weekends only, or free calls at all times. Can I use BT discount schemes against my Demon Premier Connect calls? At present there are no BT discount schemes available on the Demon Premier Connect SurfTime numbers (0844 041 prefixes). For example, you cannot make one of these Demon Premier Connect numbers your "Best Friend" or apply any other residential or business discounts. What about ISDN? BT ISDN-2 lines (including Home Highway and Business Highway) can call the new numbers. Some other types of BT ISDN line cannot, The BT SurfTime subscription covers both channels of the ISDN line. You can achieve 128kbit/s access speeds on a pay-as-you-go basis using the 0845 212 0665 access number. |
