Equipment Requirements You will require a BT SIN346* compatible ADSL Router (or Modem) to connect your computer(s)/network to the ADSL enabled phone line plus appropriate connectivity software and hardware for your computers connected to this network. You will need to use an ADSL filter/splitter to stop high frequency ADSL being audible on the telephone service once you have fitted your ADSL equipment. The actual computer system requirements vary depending on your choice of ADSL modem or router. For simple ADSL modems, these normally connect to the computer via a USB port, and require TCP/IP networking software, appropriate device drivers, and the ability to run a PPP link over ATM. Such device drivers are normally provided with the ADSL modem; check the manufacturer's documentation for compatibility with your computer system. For an ADSL equipped router, these normally connect to the computers via 10baseT Ethernet interface, and require the computers to be able to run TCP/IP networking software using an Ethernet interface. *SIN 346 (available for download from www.sinet.bt.com. |
