Speed
The service operates downstream at up to 8Mbps* and upstream at up to 448kbps, offering always-on, unmetered access** and unrestricted 24-hour TCP/IP traffic. The speed of a broadband connection is determined by the distance between your telephone line and the local BT exchange.
Installation
Broadband requires a standard analogue phone line provided by BT. The service can be taken from any extension socket subject to the correct use of microfilters. The service is a self-install offering, so no engineer visits are required. The service gives you the freedom and flexibility to select the appropriate router and the correct number of microfilters for your specific requirements – either from our range of fully supported broadband devices or from an alternate provider.
Router Selection
We offer 3 Customer Premises Equipment (CPE) options with the Demon HomeOffice service, all of which are supported by our technical support teams. The SpeedTouch 510 router is our entry-level product and is a single port Ethernet router, ideal for single-user connections. The SpeedTouch ST546 is a four-port Ethernet router, giving you the flexibility to network your home or office. The SpeedTouch ST585 Wireless Router gives you the option to create your own wireless network. We also offer a choice of wireless adapter cards for PCs and laptops, so you can purchase everything you require to get up and running quickly.
Space for your web site
Present your business professionally using 20MB Demon Homepages webspace. Includes enquiry forms, visitor reporting and streaming to help your site really stand out using high quality RealAudio®, RealVideo®, QuickTime® or MP3 sound and video.
Host name
Customers are allocated a standard hostname, for example, hostname.demon.co.uk

IP address assignment
