Demon Customers Gain Satellite Email Access Via Sky Digital TV THUS through its Demon Internet brand - one of the UK's largest Internet Service Providers - is making its award-winning email service available to Demon customers via the Sky digital interactive television platform. Along with fellow ISPs Yahoo! and BT's talk21, the award-winning Demon service can now be accessed via the Sky Active service on Sky digital. Sky digital satellite viewers who are also Demon subscribers will be able to send and receive emails via Demon's email services just by pressing the red button on the Sky handset while watching a Sky channel or by pressing the Interactive menu button for a full-screen email service. Phil Male, THUS Executive Director, Operations, said: "We've always aimed to be platform neutral in the delivery of Internet services to provide our customers with access at any time and in any location. The Partnership with Sky digital adds another dimension to the extensive range of options we already provide, adding an additional 5 million potential access points for Demon subscribers throughout the UK. We are looking forward to working closely with Sky digital to further enhance the service." Demon customers need only to enter their user name and password using an on-screen menu and their remote control or keyboard to use the service. At this initial stage, users can read and reply to text only email messages and within 12 months enhanced services, including the sending and receiving of picture attachments, are expected to be made available. Jon Florsheim, Managing Director of Sky Interactive said: "Demon is a well-respected and highly innovative brand in the industry and adds considerable weight to Sky digital's already successful email facility. The email project builds our interactive services while providing an additional gateway for Demon's subscribers." |
